As we begin the new year of 2017, it is out with the old and in with the new. This is a great time to get rid of old beauty products. Here are some tips on how long you should be replacing makeup.

Not only do products expire, they also can have bacteria build up. There are no exact dates on when you need to toss them, since companies package products differently, use different ingredients, and our use of them varies – this is just an estimate.

Mascara – Every 3 months

Eyeshadows – Every 2 years, One year if it is a cream eyeshadow

Liquid Foundation – Every year

Powder Foundation – Every 2 years

Concealer – Every 12-18 months

Eyeliner – 3-6 months

Blush/ Bronzer – Every 2 years

Lipstick – Every year

Lipgloss – 6 months- 1 year

Cleanser – Every 1-2 years

Moisturizer – Every year

Serum -Every 9 – 12 months

SPF – Every year

Be sure to also be cleansing your makeup brushes to keep them from developing bacteria and for the best application.
